Our client\u00a0is a\u00a0data engineering and AI services\u00a0partner, strategically supporting<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>enterprises building AI systems.\u00a0They\u00a0came to\u00a0DATAmundi\u00a0with an ambitious goal: collect 60,000 authentic voice recordings across 10 European countries to support voice recognition systems.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The recordings needed to be genuinely human, no synthetic or AI-generated audio, across multiple languages, telecom networks, and recording formats. It was a\u00a0high-stakes\u00a0brief that\u00a0required\u00a0a partner with deep experience in\u00a0<\/span>multilingual data collection<\/span><\/a>, scalable recruitment infrastructure, and rigorous\u00a0<\/span>quality control processes<\/span><\/a>. The client chose\u00a0DATAmundi\u00a0as their delivery partner to make it happen.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The Brief\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>

The Challenge<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>

As the project moved from planning to execution, both teams quickly discovered that this was far more than a straightforward\u00a0volume\u00a0exercise. Technical constraints significantly limited the ability to\u00a0scale:\u00a0collection was restricted to just three telecom carriers per country, and each phone number was capped at only five recordings. With 60,000 recordings\u00a0to collect\u00a0across 10 markets, these restrictions created a severe bottleneck that made reaching volume targets extremely challenging under the original parameters.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Operator\u00a0voicemail collection introduced an\u00a0additional\u00a0challenge, as many operators automatically read the contributor\u2019s phone number aloud. This created privacy concerns and\u00a0reduced participation, since contributors were reluctant to share recordings\u00a0containing\u00a0personally identifiable information (PII).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

At the same time,\u00a0the integrity of the dataset\u00a0required ongoing safeguards. A\u00a0significant number\u00a0of contributors\u00a0attempted\u00a0to submit AI-generated audio instead of authentic human recordings. In a project where the entire value of the dataset depended on genuine human voices, even a small percentage of synthetic audio slipping through would have undermined the client\u2019s end deliverable. Meanwhile, recruitment across 10 diverse European markets\u00a0also brought distinct operational challenges, as each country showed different engagement patterns, privacy expectations, and cultural norms around participation in data projects.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Adding to these pressures, a\u00a0language requirement\u00a0shift\u00a0in Belgium\u00a0meant that recordings initially collected in French had to be scrapped entirely and re-collected in Flemish.\u00a0These compounding constraints pushed projected delivery down to just 60-70% of the target volume, well short of what the client needed to fulfil their commitment.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Instead of accepting the gap in delivery,\u00a0DATAmundi\u00a0worked hand in hand with the client to systematically dismantle each barrier. The client\u2019s willingness to collaborate on solutions and their trust in our recommendations helped stabilize the project and move it forward.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
