Our Co-CEO, Véronique Özkaya, recently joined the Slator Podcast to discuss the evolving intersection of data, AI, and multilingual content—and how DATAmundi is leading the charge in this space.
From the moment the conversation begins, it’s clear that DATAmundi has hit the ground running. Our rebrand signals more than a name change—it marks a bold new chapter that aligns perfectly with the future of AI data services. Véronique offers a compelling look into this transformation and explains how it’s reshaping how we serve clients.
Bridging the AI Gap for Our Clients
One key insight from the podcast: many companies are being asked to “do something with AI,” yet they often lack a clear starting point. That’s where we come in.
DATAmundi helps organizations navigate these early AI journeys. A common entry point is supporting the development of custom AI models. We bring deep technical expertise in data annotation, model fine-tuning, and evaluation, allowing us to serve as a critical human-in-the-loop partner.
Our team taps into a rich, cross-industry talent pool to provide:
- Curated data enhancement
- Bias mitigation
- Hallucination detection
- Language services, including translation and localization
This human-centric approach ensures the output of AI systems is not only accurate, but also responsible and inclusive.
Tackling AI’s Core Challenges
In her conversation, Véronique highlighted three major hurdles in AI development:
- Insufficient data
- Hallucinations – inaccurate or fabricated outputs, particularly from generative models
- Bias – skewed outcomes stemming from imbalanced input data
Unlike companies that rely heavily on crowdsourcing, DATAmundi emphasizes a curated and client-specific approach. While we have the capacity to scale through crowdsourcing, it’s not our default mode. Instead, we focus on quality and precision.
A Real-World Example: Reducing Gender Bias
Véronique illustrated our bias-reduction work with a compelling example involving the word nurse. In French, the translation often defaults to a feminine form—reflecting and reinforcing gender bias. DATAmundi tackles this by using gender-neutral datasets and human reviewers who adjust machine translations to provide balanced, context-rich alternatives. This kind of nuanced human editing trains AI models to reflect the diversity of real-world users and use cases.
A Nimble, Scalable Platform for the Future
Agility is one of our defining traits. Our proprietary platform enables us to spin up a tailored workflow in hours—not weeks. This flexibility, combined with access to expert talent, allows us to meet clients’ evolving needs with speed and accuracy.
Looking ahead, Véronique sees even more opportunity to scale our impact—not through tech alone, but by deepening our consulting capabilities. Strategic acquisitions will help us expand our domain expertise in data applications and AI deployment.
